Your signature on the citation you have received is not a plea of guilty. You do have the right to appear in court and contest the charge(s) filed against you and have a trial by either a judge or jury. The courtroom is limited to defendants, their counsel, parent or guardian of a defendant under 18, an elderly or handicapped person needing assistance, or an interpreter for a language other than Spanish.
If you are charged with a violation involving an
accident you must appear in court. Persons (16) sixteen years of age
or younger must appear with a parent or guardian.
